    2010-12: The beginnings

On the 15th of March 2010, Glad Condor sets forward and gives birth, in the city of Baia Mare, to the primary foundation of “Hiatus M”, a band burning with desire for great results. The first live appearances in Baia Mare and a few other cities were only cover-based, lacking any songs of their own, even though Glad desired from the beginning to express his feelings through music. As an year passed by, Glad met Ronnie (Lucian Vasiac on his real name), bass player in a local band called Watercolor, a band which consisted only of instrumentalists. Neither of them would have imagined at the time that they will get along so well and would merge with much more experience in the art of songwriting. After the first Hiatus M line-up was disbanded due to arguments about the musical genre that the band wished to play and due to the tensioned atmosphere that ruled over the members of the band, Glad searched to join forces with the guys from Watercolor but, to his surprise, that band was also disbanded, only the drummer Ákos Török and bassist Ronnie remained. Therefore, in the next few months, they tried to revive Hiatus M, basically by moving the members of Watercolor to Hiatus M, but in May 2011, Ákos Török left the band due to some personal reasons and since that time, Ronnie became a permanent member of the band. Afterwards, the two members, together, formed a pillar of strength and everything turned basically… into a new beginning.

Throughout one year, from June 2011 to June 2012, Glad and Ronnie tried to reform the band. The effort led to the change of a lot of members, racking up a total of three lineups. With every lineup the band had, they attended and organized a lot of cover concerts, performing various songs from bands they grew up with, like: AC/DC, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Jovi etc., in Baia Mare and in other cities of Romania, gathering a number of 17 live performances and 5 prizes won.

On July 30, 2011, after they finally found a drummer and could form the second lineup, they held a festival called "Rock-Marathon" and it was actually the first concert where Glad and Ronnie played together. It was at that venue where they played their first original track called “The worlds song”. Towards the end of 2011, they changed the drummer again and with their third lineup, the band starts its first mini-tour around the country, where they had to play their first two songs: “The world song”, “A hidden war” and several covers, but unfortunately the tour turned out to be a failure due to its poor organization. Meanwhile, the band participates in several competitions, wins a few prizes for interpretation and ranks second in a contest for live performance and songwriting.

From early 2012 until June, the band is forced to form their fourth ever lineup and this time, they tried something else, a style more inclined to metal. The band wrote two songs called: ”Blind nights” and “Raze it”, performed in a few concerts around the country and participated at a few competitions. In June, they had to cancel a series of concerts that were supposed to take place all over the country in the summer because the drummer and the guitarist at the time decided to retire due to some personal reasons. At that time Glad and Ronnie, tired and upset after so many attempts to find the right members, decided to start over again, alone, on a new path, trying to discover what could be their own sound and create an original style. As that got decided, Glad and Ronnie took a break from live performances, until they had enough own songs to perform a whole show and to create a identity. That moment was to be known as: “The rebirth of Hiatus M”.

    June 2012 - Present:The rebirth of Hiatus M

Glad and Ronnie took a three months break and began writing ideas for new materials. Also, due to the desire to produce and record music by themselves, they began to study music production and recording techniques intensely. With the end of 2012 near, Hiatus M was ready for its fifth lineup and with the desire of two friends from Baia Mare, a drummer and a guitarist, it really came to life. On October 2012 Glad and Ronnie started the work on “Save me”, their first synthrock song which was released later in December 2012. Two months later, in February 2013, the band went to the Eurovision Song Contest with “I’m flying high”, a song that has its origins somewhere in March 2011, but a song that suffered a lot of changes since then. There, they were spotted by a manager and producer of a label called Bigtime Production and were asked for a collaboration. When everything seemed to be going in the right direction something had to go wrong. After joining the band, the two members from Baia Mare were not quite as reliable as it was wanted to think of them and after realizing that those guys had more interest in anything else but playing their instruments, Glad and Ronnie decided that it is better for the future of Hiatus M to keep searching for members that wanted more than just a slightly bit of fun, colleagues that they can call brothers and count on every moment. So the fifth lineup was disbanded. After this last experience the guys were determined to test their future members, even for an year if needed, just to be sure that the future sixth lineup will represent the jackpot. Afterwards Hiatus M started rehearsing with Gabriel Șuța-Noje, a very future perspective guitarist. Firstly they tested him a lot and after about six months, he started to win the trust of the boys due to his hard work. It all turned out very well for the band that had its first event with this lineup in September 2013 at a outdoor Music Festival from Baia Mare.

Glad and Ronnie were so happy to see that Gabriel was really the brother that they were looking for, therefore they decided to make him a permanent Hiatus M member. After a great show at “Napoca Music Event”, a open air festival held in the city of Cluj-Napoca, the band gained a lot of self confidence and started dreaming for bigger stages. At that very festival they were approached by the guys from Comercial Music Productions & CDj Record Label, who seemed impressed by the Synthpop sound which Hiatus M used to delight the people. Therefore the next day the band went straight towards Comercial Music Productions & CDj Record Label Studios and after a long chat the two sides agreed for a first collaboration. In the first step of this collaboration, Hiatus M recorded and released their first ever single called “Apologies” with the help of Comercial Music Productions & CDj Record Label Studios.

Also being supported by his family greatly added to this, being offered the chance to study with a proper teacher and eventually succeed at the entering exams. Since he began studying music he concentrated on vocal training, classical guitar training and a bit of piano training, without forgetting about his true passion, being the lead-singer of his band.

  • Lucian Vasiac

    Personal Biography

Lucian Vasiac “Ronnie” (born on the 10th of May 1991 in Baia Mare, Romania) is a Romanian musician, multi-instrumentalist, co-producer, bass player and backing vocalist for the Romanian synthrock band Hiatus M.

Ronnie began to play the bass guitar on February 2008, even though his first dream was to play drums. Although he continued to play the bass guitar, he started a one year drum course at a local school, but unfortunately, in the summer of 2009 the school was closed due to financial reasons and he was left with no choice but to focus only on his initial instrument. At the end of 2009 he had his first attempt to play, as a bass player, in a local band called Watercolor, but the project didn’t last for long. The band existed only for one year, during that time they played some local gigs. They were known for lacking a singer so their only option was to set forward with instrumental setlists at every gig.

In October 2010 Watercolor disbanded and in February 2011 Ronnie joined and became a permanent member of Hiatus M, the most important step for his future musical career.

  • Gabriel Şuţa-Noje

    Personal Biography

Gabriel Șuța-Noje (born on the 13th of September 1993 in Baia Mare, Romania) is a Romanian musician, guitar player, co-producer and backing vocalist for the Romanian synthrock band Hiatus M.

Gabriel started to play the guitar on 13 September 2010 being motivated by his cousin, the man who actually gave him his first acoustic guitar and the one who taught him his first chords. During that time, his attraction for guitar increased substantially, but a couple of months were necessary for him to find his first ever band called “Văzduh” in December 2010. But alas, it was nothing of a band because they had just a single live performance. Not much passed, in June 2011 he enters in his second band, called “4You”, band focused on cover concerts, but, unfortunately they lasted only for one year.

After he left “4You”, in January 2013 due to some personal problems, things started to roll for him and, on April 2013, he is invited by Glad Condor in Hiatus M, an opportunity he could have not afforded to miss in a city such as Baia Mare.

The guys from Hiatus M have released their first music video containing the song „Living for a dream”.

The song „Living for a dream” has a message of encouragement, the fight of an individual for the claim of his self confidence. He is battling against many painfull memories and against the people or the society that is not very fond of him. In the end, he manages to find „His inner fire”, a so called fire that helps him to surpass all the difficult moments with a great self confidence that he managed to develop on the way.

  • Ghost of my rose - Second SINGLE

Although they call themselves Hiatus M, the guys have no intention in taking any sort of breaks, releasing their second single called "Ghost of my rose".

The song is inspired by the lead singer, Glad's feelings. "The Ghost" is the reproduction of a muse from his dreams, a muse inspired from more than a single person's looks and qualities. The main theme is represented by this muse, inexistent in the real world, but very alive in the dreams of the one that calls her. The association with the rose gives a slightly romantic feel that simply cannot be replaced or removed from a story such as this.

    Apologies - Our debut song

Who says that electronic/classical instruments combined with a powerful baritone voice don’t get along well , without any doubt must he give a chance to the “synthpop” musical genre. Relying on this modern concept, Hiatus M releases its first single called “Apologies”, a song that defines very well the band’s way of life/motto : “Know my music and you know me”.

About “Apologies” it can be said that it is first of all a song drawing its inspiration from guitarists Gabriel personal life which in a difficult moment had a riot with a very good friend , ruining a friendship that had its bounds since childhood. With the desire of making them friends once again and simply stunned by the event, Glad and Ronnie emphasized with Gabriel helping him to express his deep apologies for what happened between him and his girlfriend. Therefore repairing a life long friendship in a very emotional way through the song “Apologies ” .
